The Westin Indianapolis

After completing a property-wide renovation in July, The Westin Indianapolis, located in the heart of the city, has transformed its public spaces and guestrooms while adding additional event space (Capital Overlook) and a new dining venue (Ten Hands Social Bar & Eatery). “The hotel’s design pays homage to Indianapolis as the ‘crossroads of America’, bringing people together from coast to coast and continually transforming with each new visitor,” said Billie Potticary Thorne, principal/VP, C+TC Design Studio. Working alongside C+TC Design Studio to ensure that the design intent was met, the Bryan Ashley team custom-crafted the contemporary headboards, bed bases, nightstands, closets, TV wall panel/mini bar units, c-tables, and vanities.

Upon entering the hotel’s front doors, guests are welcomed with rich greenery and organic shapes that mimic Indianapolis’ natural outdoor landscape. In the 575 guestrooms, wall coverings and area rugs are inspired by the nearby cornfields and farmland and the light-colored wood furniture furthers the agricultural tie. For large groups coming to Indianapolis, an additional 750,000 square feet of meeting space is available at the adjacent Indiana Convention Center which is connected to The Westin via a convenient, connected skywalk. Also connected via the skywalk is Circle Centre Mall which is home to more than 60 retailers and thirteen restaurants.

Indianapolis downtown dining

While spending time in Indianapolis, you’ll want to check out these very well-known restaurants. Starting with the oldest steakhouse in Indianapolis, St. Elmo’s has been a landmark since 1902. It has earned a national reputation for its excellent steaks and iconic shrimp cocktail with its over-the-top horseradish cocktail sauce.   Harry and Izzy were long-time childhood friends and became partners in the St. Elmo steak house in 1956. Harry was recognized as the outgoing, charming one in the pair while Izzy was a man of few words; they become known as the quintessential “Odd Couple”. Harry and Izzy’s is an independent upscale American grill that shares a few of the classic dishes from its sister restaurant yet in a more casual environment. As a start or end to your evening, The Cannon Ball Lounge is Indy’s newest indoor/outdoor rooftop bar and offers amazing views of the downtown area. Sip drinks as you gaze into the cityscape through floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
