OFS is seeking a Product Transparency Technician who will be focused on developing life cycle assessments, embodied carbon inventories, and chemical transparency inventories for our product portfolio. This role will develop and implement plans and foundational processes to create these inventories, which will be a key component of our future sustainability initiatives and low carbon transition plans. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advance organizational commitments to carbon disclosure, emissions reductions, low-carbon transitioning, circular economy principles, material transparency, and other related sustainability initiatives
  • Develop and implement data management processes as it pertains to products, parts, materials, and processes
  • Manage supplier data collection and engagement
  • Construct operating templates to ensure consistency in data collection
  • Perform life cycle assessment (LCA) modeling using leading LCA software packages
  • Develop disclosures such as Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Heath Product Declarations (HPDs), Declare Labels, regulatory requirements, etc.  
  • Reverse engineer product Bills of Material into clean parts lists with identification of specific material types, weights, volumes, etc. 
  • Assist in managing and maintaining multiple voluntary product certification programs

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Has strong technical skills and a passion for improving the way our products are made by addressing the environmental and human health impact potential of our materials.
  • Demonstrates an ability to understand and organize granular technical information, analyze that information and its impacts to the organization, then effectively communicate this information
  • Is detail oriented and analytical with the ability to recognize and question inconsistencies in data
  • Approachable, respectful, open, transparent, and easy to work with under tight deadlines
  • Ability to liaison between shared service teams within manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and marketing to communicate initiatives in a clear and consistent manner
  • Ability to make quick and informed decisions while under tight deadlines and with incomplete information
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, LCA software such as GaBi, SimaPro and/or OpenLCA
  • Has a background in product engineering, product development, engineering support, manufacturing sustainability
  • Has experience with Oracle ERP and is proficient with Google Workspace applications and Microsoft Office Suite
